Do you have any clue what led to Khar Kamar massacre?
Never heard of it?
Let me tell you what was the reason and why this massacre took place.
Hukam Khan, a resident of Khar Qamar, who was picked up by the Pakistan Army some time before this incident, was released after 2 months. When Pak army came hunting for Hukum Khan at his house, his old mother resisted and pleaded the forces but in return she was smacked and beaten up brutally. The news spread like wildfire all over Waziristan and Pashtuns living in foreign countries came rushing to Waziristan, standing shoulder to shoulder with their comrade.
Pashtuns are the tribe of people who respect a woman more than their dignity. Abdul Ghaffar ‘Bacha’ Khan, the leader of the Khudai Khidmatgar movement also called Redshirt Movement once said, "If you want to know how civilized the culture is, look at how they treat its women."
And the whole nation came out on the streets to demand answers from those who put their hands on the disgrace of this mother. The sit-in was to be addressed by PTM leaders Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar. As soon as Ali Wazir reached the spot, the Pakistani soldiers started firing and as soon as the shots were fired, chaos ensued.
15 PTM countrymen were martyred on the spot and more than 100 were injured.
A few days before the incident, DG ISPR Asif Gafoor had said in a press conference that "Time is up for PTM". So from what Asaf Gafoor said in his press conference, it is clear that the army was conspiring to eliminate the PTM by open firing on it. His empty-promises was evident as to give himself airs he assured that he wanted to make every effort to resolve the issues faced by Pashtuns in tribal areas, but that the manner adopted by the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) to voice such grievances would no longer be tolerated. Words and deeds of DG ISPR differed significantly.
After the Khar Kamar massacre, Ali Wazir was arrested on the spot and curfew was imposed in Waziristan from day one and PTM workers were cracked down. Meetings and rallies are being organized for comrade Ali Wazir in all the colleges, universities, and bazaars. 4 days later when Mohseen Dawar surrendered himself to CTD, the crackdown was finally ceased.
While they were rotting in jail, an IED blast took place over the Pak Army in Waziristan in which some Pak Army officers were killed and an FIR was lodged against them.
After a few days of imprisonment, Ali Wazir Air Dawar was released, but no FIR has been lodged against the soldiers who shot and killed the unarmed peaceful PTM comardes in Kharar Kamar till date. No Pakistani politician or military official arrived to inquire about his family or of those who have laid down their lives for the motherland.
The massacre was never probed impartially. And indeed some police officers taking part in the operation were later rewarded with medals and even honored. Ironically, those who fought for the common people received jail terms and rebuke and those who took resort to violent means and corrupt ways, were venerated with accolades.
