Why Utmanzai tribes are protesting against Pakistan Army for almost a month & what are they demanding?

Umm Yes! Actually Utmanzai tribes belong to North Waziristan and during July-August, more than 8 cases of target killings have come across in the whole of Waziristan.

These frequent cases of target killing reminded them of the similar horror of the years 2007-2013. But this time, the people of Utmanzai tribe have taken to the streets to stop this calamity approaching them.

They are protesting against lawlessness and targeted killings in the area and demanding restoration of law and order in the area and claimed that since the launch of operation Zarb-e-Azb, about 480 tribesmen have been murdered in targeted killings. The operation was launched earlier in 2014 in the name to cleanse the area from militants which consequently displaced 929,859 people belonging to 80,302 families from North Waziristan.

Earlier last month, deputy commissioner of North Waziristan, Shahid Ali Khan in a statement said that targeted killings had increased over the past three months. He said that 42 security personnel have been killed in district during the current year while 63 incidents of targeted killings were also reported with most of them happening in Mir Ali.

The situation was deteriorating in the region; however, Pakistan govt. was still not taking the issues seriously.

Recently, the people of Utmanzai tribes blocked the roads which are connecting to Waziristan with Pakistan.

For the last 23 days, the people of tehsil Bakakhel have stopped working on the gas pipeline project which is going to Punjab by citing that the first right on gas belongs to the people of Waziristan and gas would firstly be supplied there after which the remaining gas will be given to Punjab.

The situation of North Waziristan is getting worse day by day but nothing substantial seems to be happening at large due to which people here celebrated 14th August as black day and not as Pakistan’s Independence day.

The people of Waziristan were protesting yesterday and doing so even today because in real sense 75 years ago only Punjabis got their freedom!
